Halloween is almost here!
I wasn’t planning on dressing up this year as the annual Halloween party that I normally attend was cancelled, and I really didn’t want to put a lot of effort into a costume just to walk my kids around the block.
But last night, an invitation to a neighborhood Halloween party for this weekend magically appeared on our doorstep – so now I’m in a last-minute scramble for a costume!
As a plus-size gal, it’s hard to find something last minute locally since I don’t live in a big city with tons of options. My Amazon Prime membership is seriously a life saver for times I can’t head into the city but am in a time-crunch. Especially living in Canada, where shipping is notoriously expensive, it’s nice to have the option to shop online for everyday essentials.
Pssst… if you don’t have an Amazon Prime membership, what are you waiting for? You can try it out for a full 30 days for FREE by clicking on the link below:
Tips for Ordering Costumes from Amazon
- Check the Accessories. Make sure that you read the entire listing so you know what accessories do & don’t come with the costume, and see what others have ordered with the costume. You don’t want to have to make a second order once your costume arrives.
- Read the reviews. This is SUPER IMPORTANT for sizing information. I love when other customers post photos of them wearing their costumes so I know what it will look like on my body type.
- Make sure it’s Prime. When searching for costumes last-minute, make sure to filter by Prime eligible products, or it might not arrive on time.
My Plus-Size Costume Picks
I can’t decide if I want to do something comfy, sexy or nerdy, but I’ve narrowed it down to the following:
Red Riding Hood is on my list because I think my hubby would make an excellent woodsman (or even better, a hilarious granny) and our husky is a perfect wolf. And even though it is sexy, it has a cloak to keep me warm.
I have a soft spot for Disney Villians. Last year I created an elaborate Ursula costume from scratch, so it would be fun to continue that theme as the Queen of Hearts.
Who wouldn’t want to be a superhero for Halloween? I know that Wonder Woman is a a popular choice the last few years, but Super Girl is also a great option – and you can wear your favorite wide-width boots with it.
From the reviews this version isn’t really all that plus sized, but I figured I’d add it because it’s a cute & easy option that you can throw together yourself. All you need is a red & white striped shirt, some glasses & a hat, a jean skirt & leggings/tights and you’re set.
My friend wore this for halloween last year as she was about 8 months pregnant at the time. She said it was AMAZING because not only did it fit, but the fan kept her nice and cool. Her husband wore a matching Ghostbuster costume. Again, don’t forget the batteries!
